P&O Rejuvenate 2009 Brochure

Customer research has prompted P&O Cruises to totally rejuvenate its 2009 travel brochure. The new brochure is categorised by destination rather than featuring cruises based on each ship in the P&O fleet. There are new ports of call including Antwerp in Belgium, La Spezia in Italy and Hvar in Croatia.

P&O Cruises’ managing director, Nigel Esdale, said: “Overall we have injected more energy and dynamism into the brochure.  It is now easier to navigate with itineraries grouped by region, colour coded sections and cross-referencing to the website for additional information. This redesign has been done with agents in mind, making it a more obvious recommendation for customers who perhaps know they want a summer holiday to Italy, but have never considered a cruise before.

“Cruise holidays paid for in sterling have always offered excellent value for money but, this year particularly, with the current exchange rate, cruises are now one of the most cost effective ways to visit
Europe. Real savings can be made by families, and couples, as all the little extras, which turn out to be not so little, in hotels and resorts, like entertainment, supervised children's clubs and night nursery, are all included in the cost of a cruise.”

I wish they would just produce brochures on departure, i.e., we are only interested in cruises which depart from Southampton - it would save a lot of time and effort going through all the other details, to say nothing of saving the companies a lot of expense producing costly glossy brochures.

Absolutely. I cannot fly for medical reasons so am only interested in cruises to and from Southampton. Please P and O, listen to our plea for the brochure/website to be categorised so that I can easily find no fly holidays. Think also how "green" it would make you appear. Kathryn from Sheffield

Could we ask everyone who doesn't want to fly, to put a comment here and maybe Royal Caribbean and P & O, and any other company, will read our request and take some action. We only require brochures on cruises from U.K. departures, i.e., NO FLYING!

I totally agree my husband flew to Australia 45 years ago and said he would never fly again - he came back two years later on a boat. We have been married 41 years and apart from when I was young and went on holiday with my girfriends I have not flown. We often go over to Amsterdam or Norway, Sweden and Belguim by ferry to stay but it would be nice to go to more exotic places without flying although we are going a mediterrian cruise at the end of August.

I agree 100% that cruise brochures should be based on departure points, as we can only depart from Southampton as we are not allowed to fly at all due to medical reasons. Brochures based on UK departures or flying should be seperated to save waste on brochures not needed.

Glad you agree, and I am sure many other folks would too. Maybe the 'powers that be' will read this and take some action. Or perhaps we should write direct to them ourselves ..... what do you think? After all, we are only saving them time, money and effort.

We have cruised with P&O for many years and have now tired of the places they visit. As we still work we are limited to the number of days we may spend on holiday. I note that they do not go the Western Mediteranean. Why, there are fabulous places to see - perhaps they could add this to their itinerary.

Are you reading the right brochure? In 2009 P&O are doing 50 Med. cruises, most of which are West and include the major ports of that area - Barcelona, Palma, Gibraltar, Monte Carlo, etc. Have another look. Regards - Janet

Entirely agree with you. It appears that P&O nine or ten days cruises south out of Southampton only appear to go to the Iberian coast and then down to the Canaries. It would make a pleasant change if instead they offered the same length cruise into the Western Mediterranean and visited places such as Gibraltar,Palma, Barcelona, Villefrance etc.

Do not wish to fly, would love some cruises from Southampton. Even if they were longer than the cruises at the moment. We do not want to keep visiting the same old places! Granted that people who have not cruised before, would love to see the places we have visited. Give us a choice PandO You will have some very happy cruisers.
