P&O Announce New Captain for Ventura![]() P&O have announced a new captain for cruise ship, Ventura. He joined P&O in 1974 as a deck cadet, serving on cargo ships and on board the original Arcadia - completing his cadetship in 1978 then promoted to third officer while on board Arcadia. He then acted as third officer on a range other ships, including the original Sea Princess on her maiden Australian season in 1979. Between 1981 and 1990, he worked his way up the ranks to the position of first officer, serving mainly in the Princess fleet on board Island Princess, Sun Princess, Pacific Princess and Royal Princess. In 1991 Captain Clark moved on to Canberra, where he was promoted to chief officer the following year and to staff captain in 1995. He was staff captain on board Victoria and the former Arcadia including during her conversion in Belfast. He was also staff captain on board Aurora, including during the final period of building and her maiden voyage. It was on board Aurora in July 2002 he was promoted to Captain. He then took charge of cruise ship, Victoria and was in command during her final voyage in 2002. He became Captain of Oceana in December 2002.

Well done Capt Clarke, a very pleasant man and an able Captain. We have sailed with a few times in the past and hope to sail again with him in the future
