Ventura Sails to Southampton

Ventura, P&O’s brand new cruise ship, has set sail for Southampton, where it will be based, after the handover by the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The liner is due in Southampton on 6th April, sailing past P&O’s Aurora in the Solent then arriving at the Mayflower Cruise terminal at about 11am. The official naming of the ship by Dame Helen Mirren will take place on 16th April and depart on its maiden cruise from Southampton to the Mediterranean two days later.

P&O Cruises’ managing director, Nigel Esdale, said: “This is a very exciting day for us as we prepare to cast the ropes aside and head for home. Ventura’s maiden season is almost upon us and this ceremony is the culmination of many months of hard work, creativity and innovation. Ventura marks a new era in contemporary British cruising and great attention to detail has been spent designing each and every bar, restaurant and cabin.”
