New to crusing - and loved it!

We cruised for the first time on P&O Arcadia around the Caribbean islands last November. We had a fabulous time and have another two cruises booked now! One to Sydney on Aurora and another on Celebrity (to test the water!) in the Med.

Food was suberb in the Meridien Restaurant and the waiters were polite and professional and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The Captain was on our table, so that may have been an infuence, but having said that, the service was perfect at breakfast and lunch which were free dining.

Arcadian Rhodes was our favourite, although when fully booked it did seem rather empty! The Orchid had a nicer atmosphere, but the food not as good. The Belvedere self service restaurant was not our favourite and had a motorway cafe feel and was a little bit too hectic for our taste and it could, on sea days, be difficult to get seated.

Our cabin steward kept the cabin very clean and tidy and he was very attentive.

The best part for me was having the opportunity to dress up in a posh frock several times - that is one of the high points of crusing for me, as elsewhere everyone seems to dress down these days, so it's good to have that opportunity.

Evening entertainment left a bit to be desired, although there was one very good comedienne, Diane Cousins, who was brilliant. The Spa was a lovely area, although some staff in the Spa were rather aloof, which did put me off of returning.

There was a friendly feel on board made so by the Captain and his officers with good commentary regarding our whereabouts and destinations. We enjoyed some of the onboard photography courses, which were excellent and, had the weather been poor (we are sun worshippers), there would have been plenty to keep us entertained by day.

All in all there was very little in which to find fault and we're glad we have discovered the joys of cruising and would choose Arcadia again.

Great choice in Meridien, Arcadian Rhodes excellent! Belvedere, too hectic, but good choice
