My wife and I have cruised over 30 times and do not believe there is any such thing as a bad cruise unless you are shaken and not stirred, taken ill or the ship sinks. Having said all that there is nothing that quite compares with the magic of a first cruise. The anticipation of getting on board, finding your way to the cabin, exploring your home for the next week or two, your first night dining where you start to make new friends and most important, travelling the globe.
Last December my wife and I commenced our first cruise on the P & O ship Artemis. We commenced our cruise in Southampton for a three week cruise to Cape Town in South Africa with some interesting Ports of call including Madeira, St Vincent, St Helena, Walvis Bay and Luderitz. Our first impression was of a good size but tired looking vessel urgently in need of a refit. ( I understand that this has now been completed ) One you got beyond this, we found a very friendly, spacious and comfortable ship. The amenities were excellent. There was plenty of room around the ship with more than enough seating and ample sunbeds. The entertainment on board especially during the evenings was some of the best we have encountered in nearly 25 years of cruising, especially the stage shows which were of a high standard and variety being almost every other night during the three week Cruise. We also enjoyed the day time activities where we played deck quoits most days with a very friendly crowd of like minded people. This ship is one of only a handful in the world where this enjoyable game can be played. A great holiday and a ship to recommend which is excellent value and great fun. I am now looking to book this ship again this March or April.
