Just returned from first cruise on Ventura - the only good bits were when we were on shore. The ship is crowded the swimming pools are monopolised by children and understand as the summer goes on there will be more children on board. The food is moderate at best apart from the White Room costing £20 per head extra. The entertainment on the whole was poor and in some cases cringe making. The cabin was ok but air conditioning in the whole ship makes it unpleasant and as for the Exchange this area is horrendously smokey. There is little to do on the ship when it is at sea - tennis court this is a joke - ie underhanded serves over floppy net best of 3 games suggested so filled all of 30 minutes of your day. The golf nets too are sub standard. The spa was pleasant my partner and I had a massage each which was adequate but in our experience expensive. My mother who came with us and has cruised extensively conisidered the ship to be substandard. The deck is crowded, noisy and the food on this level is equivalent to something on Blackpool seafront - chips, burgers and pizzas not the good food I understand is expected on a cruise ship. We will NOT be returning and it has put us off cruising certainly for several years to come. Not recommended The ship could not go into Lanzarote as it was too windy - this is a windy part of the world and one wonders why it is scheduled into the trip - result P and O have you on board for another day of boredom spending money on drinks etc to pass the time.
