rock&roll ventura

lets start with the positives:1.The ship is beautiful.2.The cabins are spacious with good size balconies & the open plan wardrobe is a big plus.3.The crew are very hardworking, our cabin steward was first class and our waiters in baytree (2nd sitting)were very attentive and smiling.5stars to felix & rally. The negatives:1.The food is well below P&O standard with most of the beef too tough to eat and the fish always overcooked, thevegetables very bland and repetitive, tapioca and sago on sweet menu too often.3.The exchange bar and casino are very poorly laid out with poor lighting(you dont have to light a cigarette to smoke in here)4.The tamarind club is ok but it doesnt sell draught beer, they serve a 500ml can of john smiths but give you a 330ml glass(useless).5.The ventura theatre company should be renamed the ventura circus company(two acrobats doing the same routine to different music every show(boring)6.Tried to drink in metopolis bar, which is the nicest bar but every time we went the music was jazz which I hate.7.It is a big mistake to replace the crowsnest bar with a gym.Overall view:The ship is very large but it is very comfortable and there is plenty of room for everyone. The ship rocks and rolls a lot even when the sea is calm. There is a constant vibration from the propulsion system(we were on deck 14 aft strb) P&O should review 4 things:1.If the ship has missed docking at Copenhagen,Stockholm & now Lanzarote, why?.2.They should inform all their loyal passengers that VENTURA is completely different to their other cruise ships and is aiming at a younger market.3.the poor standard of food is forcing passengers to pay extra at whites and east.4.They should enforce their adults only pool and the reserving of sunbeds rules.

We totally agree with this Review (2nd sitting Bay Tree with Felix & Rally providing the dinner services) and should add that our cabin service by Canute was excellent. The planned shore visits to the Canary Islands showed great promise, but the scrapping of the visit to Lanzarote, due to high cross winds! was a dissapointment as this is probably the most diverse island for scenery & vegitation. The Captains' Cruise Log made no mention of the failure to dock portside at Lanzarote. On a positive note, we must add that we went on the other P&O shore trips which were excellent. This was our first P&O cruise and we were very surprised at the bland standard of the food and the poor range of evening entertainment provided, without any midnight feature (food) treats that we had enjoyed on a previous cruise.
