Reading a lot of negative reviews before we went on our first cruise we were not quite sure what to expect, sorry, but we found there was nothing to moan about. This was not true for a lot of the older people on board, who clearly enjoy whingeing! We loved every minute of it, the service and staff were fantastic. Our cabin was lovely and roomy. Food sublime, go to East, WOW..Entertainment excellent and all the art is wonderful....Our grandchildren and friends children went to the kids club every day, they wouldn't miss it. They would have spent the 2 weeks eating and sleeping there if they could have. Of course visiting the various countries was fantastic. Would we go on another cruise? oh yes, see you there!
Quality of Food5
Food excellent, we had freedom dining, mainly the Cinnamon restaurant. Serve yourself restaurants were excellent too, especially the curries!! East was out of this world
Entertainment5
All were good shows.
Shore Excursions4
Least favourite was Oslo, it was cold and wet, only there for a few hours. Wished we'd stayed on board. Tallin - we spent a lot of money on trip to see 'Romantic Tallin' this was a waste of money and time, we were very disappointed. St Petersburg was wonderful, wanted to stay longer. We loved Warnemunde.
Staff5
Irene in the Cinnamon was really great. But all the staff were wonderful
Children's Facilities5
The children loved the kids clubs very much, the staff were excellent.
Onboard Activities4
For us, yes.
Cabins5
Better than we expected, roomy and very comfortable. Lovely soft beds.
Overall Rating5

Question by Fuller, Gravesend (31 Aug 08 14:34) about this REVIEW.
From the brochure it looks like the 'cirque ventura' (in the small print at the back) is not included in the price and an extra charge is made for it. As you had children in your party can you confirm what the situation was please and if it was chargable what were the charges.

Hi, the Cirque Ventura was brilliant ... throughly enjoyable. It was £10.00 for an adult and £5.00 for a child, this was for about two hours tuition of three activities. We did trapeze, stilts and tight rope walking. The staff were brilliant and made it a lot of fun. At the end of your holiday you can take part in the 'end of holiday show' and perform your new found skills to an audience!!

Hi, good to hear you enjoyed your first P&O experience and didn't let the older generation affect your enjoyment. I'll never understand why, when P&O clearly advertise Ventura as a Family ship, why seasoned cruisers head straight for it then moan to buggery. I had the privilege to see visit it at first hand on its arrival at Southampton, but instantly saw that the style wasn't for me. Glad you enjoyed it though and good luck on your next cruise. Richard.
