This was our first cruise with our 2 girls - 18 months and 3 1/2. We have been on a number of other cruises on our own and were a little worried how they would be. It was a joy right from the start.Checking in and boarding was ultra efficient- fom leaving the car to boarding only took about an hour max.Our cabin was very spacious and immaculate. Our cabin steward couldn`t do enough for us - he was very approchable and very hardworking.
The standard of food was excellent. We had breakfast in the buffet which offered a very varied selection. The pizza place was very good for lunch.Evening on most occasins we ate in the restaurant - freedom dining. The only disadvantage here was if you wanted to book a specific time for dinner you had to ring at 07.30 that morning or day before because it got booked up very quick. However food was excellent - always hot and very tasty. We also went to East ,the east asian restaurant which was our favourite. The food was amazing and although you have to pay a small supplement it was well worth it.The White Room is also worth going to as well if you want a special mealAlso on the final night we went to the spanish restaurant inh the Ramblas bar which does a wicked paella!
The children`s facilities on board are brilliant. They have` Reef Rangers `who organise loads of activities for the kids and put on parties. The activities are age related so our two had a lot of activities involving Noddy and attended his birthday party ! This ship definately had the best kids facilities but because of this especially in the summer there are lots of children so if this is not for you avoid! We heard one comment from an older couple that young children shouldn`t be going on holiday on cruises!
We were very impressed with the Ventura.Every thing has been done to the highest standard and it was the best cruise we have gone on so far.The shows in the theatre were very professional and a number of the acts were given a standing ovation.A particular mention should go to Kev Orkian -the illegal Arminian comedian-hilarious if not completely PC. Absolutely brilliant. There was also a lot of bands and singing acts particularli in the Havana bar which were all very good.
Overall we were very impressed with Ventura and all it`s staff. ( only grumble is that it should have an ice cream machine in the buffet as ther are a lot of kids ) We will definately go on the Ventura again.
